BIS Certification For Footwear | ISI Mark Consultants

On October 27, 2020, the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) announced that all footwear manufacturers will be required to obtain a BIS certification for footwear. The regulation will come into effect on July 1, 2023. After this period, manufacturers will be permitted to produce and sell footwear that has the necessary BIS certification. Failure to comply with this directive will not only result in a ban on footwear production, but manufacturers will also be subject to criminal prosecution, which could result in prison time and/or heavy fines. 

No company in India can manufacture, import, distribute, sell, rent, lease, store or exhibit BIS certified footwear unless  it bears the ISI mark.
